
Türkiye had an outstanding year in tourism in 2024, welcoming a record-breaking 62.2 million visitors, which was 9.8% more than the previous year. This number also showed a 20.3% increase compared to 2019, the pre-pandemic year. The country exceeded its own target of 60 million tourists and generated $61.1 billion in revenue, which was 8.3% higher than in 2023. These figures made 2024 the most successful year for Türkiye’s tourism industry.
Tourists from Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia were the largest groups of visitors, while the number of tourists from the Americas, India, and China also grew significantly. Among the top countries sending tourists to Türkiye, Russia, Germany, and the United Kingdom remained in the lead. Meanwhile, the United States recorded an 8.1% growth in visitors, and China saw an impressive 65.1% increase in tourist arrivals.

Among the millions of tourists, over 135,000 Pakistanis visited Türkiye in 2024. Many Pakistani visitors also participated in the Istanbul Marathon, the world’s only intercontinental race that starts in Asia and ends in Europe. One of the highlights of the event was Amjad Ali from Pakistan, who achieved an impressive feat in the marathon.
On average, international tourists spent 10.7 days in Türkiye, with a per-person spending of $972. The country was ranked among the top five most visited destinations globally by UN Tourism in 2023, and this ranking is expected to improve further due to Türkiye’s growing popularity among travelers.
Türkiye’s ability to attract millions of tourists is due to its rich culture, historical landmarks, beautiful landscapes, and vibrant cities like Istanbul, Antalya, and Cappadocia. With continuous improvements in tourism infrastructure and global marketing efforts, Türkiye is set to remain a top travel destination in the coming years.
