
Bangladesh put up a fighting total of 228 runs against India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, thanks to a brilliant century by Towhid Hridoy. Bangladesh’s Batting Struggles in the Beginning
After opting to bat first, Bangladesh had a tough start as their top order collapsed early. Tanzid Hasan scored 25 runs, but Soumya Sarkar and Najmul Hossain Shanto were dismissed for ducks. The team lost five wickets inside the powerplay, leaving them in deep trouble at 35 for 5.
Hridoy and Jaker Ali Lead the Comeback
With Bangladesh struggling, Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali built a strong partnership to rescue their team. Together, they added 154 runs for the sixth wicket, helping Bangladesh recover from the early blows.

Jaker Ali played a steady innings, scoring 68 runs off 114 balls, including four boundaries. However, he was eventually caught by Virat Kohli off Mohammed Shami’s bowling.
Hridoy, on the other hand, continued his fine innings and reached his first-ever ODI century in the 48th over. His brilliant knock included two sixes and one four before he was caught by Shami off Harshit Rana’s bowling.
Shami’s Five-Wicket Haul Destroys Bangladesh’s Lineup
Mohammed Shami, returning from injury, was in top form as he dismantled Bangladesh’s batting lineup. He picked up five wickets, showing his class with the ball. Harshit Rana also impressed, taking three wickets in his seven overs.
Despite the early struggles, Bangladesh managed to post a respectable total of 228 runs. With India’s strong batting lineup set to chase, the match promises to be an exciting contest.
