Bangladeshi fast bowler Taskin Ahmed recently opened up about going unpicked in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 draft. Despite being a key player for Bangladesh since his debut in 2014 and delivering outstanding performances in many critical games, the pacer’s name was absent from the list of selected players, leaving fans disappointed.
Taskin Ahmed, who recently represented Durbar Rajshahi in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25, missed out on opportunities to play in two of the world’s top cricket leagues: the PSL 10 and the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. This isn’t the first time he has faced such a situation. Reports previously suggested he was close to joining the Lucknow Super Giants in an earlier IPL season as a replacement player. Unfortunately, the deal fell through as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) didn’t provide him with a No Objection Certificate.
The news of his exclusion from PSL 10 sparked conversations among fans, but Taskin’s reaction remained calm and positive. When asked about his feelings, he said he isn’t upset about the missed opportunity. His primary focus is on performing well for his country and making the most of the chances he gets.
“What’s there to be upset about? The main thing is to serve my country well and do my best wherever I play. There will be more opportunities in the future,” Taskin said.
Taskin shared that despite previously missing out on IPL opportunities, he has never let setbacks affect him mentally. Reflecting on the past, he explained that if he had taken these disappointments to heart, it would have impacted his well-being. Instead, he chooses to remain optimistic, trusting that future chances will come his way, whether as a replacement or in upcoming drafts.
“I’ve had three previous chances to join the IPL, but things didn’t work out. If I had let those things upset me, I wouldn’t be here now. I’m not disappointed at all. What’s meant for me will come to me, inshallah,” Taskin added.
The pacer also expressed hope that even though he wasn’t picked in the initial PSL 10 draft, he could still get a call-up if a team needs a replacement during the tournament. Taskin’s mature and positive attitude toward setbacks is an inspiring example of resilience in the highly competitive world of professional cricket.
While fans may be eager to see him in leagues like the PSL and IPL, Taskin Ahmed’s focus remains on giving his best wherever he plays, knowing that persistence and hard work will create more opportunities for him in the future.
