Cricket fans were shocked when a misleading social media post falsely claimed that legendary Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram was among divorced cricketers. His wife, Shaniera Akram, was quick to respond, expressing her anger and setting the record straight.
A post on platform X (formerly Twitter) listed 12 cricketers, both past and present, claiming they had gone through divorces. However, the list included names that were factually incorrect, such as Wasim Akram and Indian cricketer Anil Kumble, both of whom have never been divorced.
Shaniera Akram, who has been married to Wasim Akram since 2013, immediately called out the post for spreading misinformation. She reshared the post and criticized its lack of accuracy, urging people to verify facts before believing or sharing them. She made it clear that such careless reporting could be harmful and misleading.

Wasim Akram and Shaniera Akram have been happily married for over a decade and share a daughter, Aiyla, who was born in 2014. Before Shaniera, Wasim was married to Huma Mufti in 1993, who tragically passed away in 2009.
Similarly, Anil Kumble has been married to Chetna Ramathirtha since 1999. He adopted her daughter from a previous marriage, and the couple has two children together.
Misinformation on social media can spread quickly, leading to unnecessary controversy. Shaniera Akram’s response serves as an important reminder to always fact-check before sharing any claims, especially those concerning personal lives. Fans and followers must ensure they rely on verified sources for news rather than believing everything they see online.
