Saudi Arabia has introduced the Saudi Authorized Economic Operator Program to provide extensive support to businesses involved in exporting and importing. This new initiative, announced by the Saudi Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA), aims to simplify trade processes and boost the kingdom’s logistics sector.
The program was created in partnership with 14 key government organizations. It offers various benefits across three main areas for exporters and importers, with a fourth category focused on logistics service providers, including customs brokers and shipping agents.
The primary goal of this program is to empower the logistics industry in Saudi Arabia by simplifying trade procedures, improving competitiveness, and enhancing the efficiency of supply chains. It also aims to provide businesses with access to global markets, making operations smoother and more flexible while ensuring uninterrupted workflows.
Participants in the program will gain administrative, procedural, and financial advantages that align with international trade standards. The program complies with the World Customs Organization’s International Trade Security and Facilitation Standards Framework, making it globally recognized. Over 80 countries worldwide have approved the Saudi Authorized Economic Operator Program, further enhancing its credibility and reach.
The initiative is supported by several prominent Saudi organizations, including the Saudi Ports Authority, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, and ministries such as Commerce, Health, Transport, and Investment. By uniting efforts from these institutions, Saudi Arabia is working to create a seamless experience for businesses, reduce operational hurdles, and encourage global trade partnerships.
This program is expected to play a significant role in strengthening Saudi Arabia’s position as a global trade hub while supporting businesses to thrive in international markets. With its streamlined processes and focus on efficiency, it marks a step forward in the kingdom’s efforts to boost economic growth and enhance the ease of doing business.
