Pakistan’s rising cricket star, Saim Ayub, might not be able to play in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10. Fans were eagerly waiting for his return, but his injury recovery has taken longer than expected.
Injury Setback Delays Saim Ayub’s Return
Saim Ayub suffered an ankle injury during a Test match against South Africa in Cape Town earlier this year. While trying to save a boundary, he twisted his ankle badly, forcing him to leave the series. Since then, he has been undergoing intense rehabilitation to regain full fitness.
His initial recovery time was estimated at six weeks, but complications have delayed his return. As a result, he missed the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and Pakistan’s white-ball tour of New Zealand. Fans and selectors were hopeful that he would be back in time for PSL 10, which is set to start on April 11, but uncertainty still surrounds his participation.
Awaiting the Final Medical Clearance
Local reports suggest that Saim’s fate for PSL 10 depends on a crucial medical assessment scheduled for Tuesday. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been cautious with his recovery, ensuring that he does not rush back to action too soon. He is currently working with Pakistan cricket trainer Hanif Malik and receiving guidance from British specialists to make a safe return.
Recently, the PCB shared videos of his rehabilitation progress on Instagram, showing his gradual improvement. However, the final decision will be made based on his medical report.
What This Means for Peshawar Zalmi
Saim Ayub is a key player for Peshawar Zalmi, where he holds a prestigious Platinum category spot alongside star batsman Babar Azam. Zalmi’s management and national selectors are keenly awaiting the medical report to see if he can be part of the squad. If he misses PSL 10, it will be a big blow for the team and his own aspirations to reclaim a spot in Pakistan’s national side.
