In January 2025, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced new prices for Regassified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG). These changes affect both Sui Northern Pipeline Gas Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Pipeline Limited (SSGCL), with SNGPL experiencing a price decrease, while SSGCL sees a slight increase.
For SNGPL, the maximum RLNG price for transmission has decreased to $11.72 per MMBtu, down from $11.96 per MMBtu in December 2024. This marks a decrease of 1.98 percent or $0.24 per MMBtu. Likewise, the price for distribution has also dropped, now at $12.66 per MMBtu, down from $12.89 in December, reflecting a decrease of 1.81 percent or $0.23 per MMBtu.
On the other hand, RLNG prices for SSGCL have increased slightly. The transmission price for SSGCL is now $10.58 per MMBtu, compared to $10.54 per MMBtu in December. This is a rise of 0.44 percent, or $0.46 per MMBtu. Similarly, the distribution price has increased to $12.60 per MMBtu, up from $12.54 per MMBtu, showing a 0.45 percent increase, or $0.55 per MMBtu.
These changes in RLNG prices are influenced by the recent trends in the international market, which has seen a decrease in prices. Additionally, the stability of the local currency against the U.S. dollar has also played a role in affecting the RLNG prices in Pakistan’s domestic market.
This adjustment in prices reflects global economic factors, but it also means a slight relief for consumers in the SNGPL areas, while SSGCL customers are facing a modest price increase. The impact of these changes will be closely monitored as the country continues to adjust to international market shifts.
