Rain is expected to break the ongoing dry spell in Pakistan next week, bringing much-needed relief to several regions. Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz shared this update during a conversation with a private news channel. He explained that the rain is likely to begin around January 20 due to winds entering Balochistan from Iran. Along with rain, the northern areas can expect snowfall during this period, creating a picturesque winter landscape.
However, Karachi, Pakistan’s bustling port city, will not experience any rainfall from this weather system. Despite missing out on rain, the city continues to face a cold spell, with temperatures dipping to 12°C. According to the Meteorological Department, Karachi is currently experiencing strong winds, and the weather will remain partly cloudy over the next 24 hours.
In recent updates, Karachi’s minimum temperature dropped further to 11°C, with a maximum of up to 25°C expected. Humidity levels are currently at 71%, while wind speeds have reached 10 km/h, adding to the chilly conditions.
Unfortunately, Karachi also faces severe air pollution issues, ranking as the sixth most polluted city globally. The city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) is recorded at 184, categorized as hazardous. Residents, especially those with respiratory conditions, are advised to take necessary precautions to protect their health.
While Karachi deals with its challenges, the rest of Pakistan prepares for the refreshing touch of rain. This change in weather could bring some respite to areas that have been experiencing dry conditions for weeks. It’s also a time for people in the northern regions to gear up for snowfall, a cherished sight for many during winter.
As Pakistan braces for the upcoming weather changes, it’s essential to stay updated with forecasts and take safety measures where needed. Whether you’re enjoying the chilly weather in Karachi or preparing for rainfall and snow in other parts of the country, this winter promises to keep things interesting.
