In a significant development, Punjab’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched a project aimed at providing free three-marla plots to homeless people across the province. This initiative is designed to offer a home to those who are struggling without proper shelter, enabling them to own a piece of land and build their future.
The government’s plan is to roll out this scheme in phases, making sure that the help reaches those who need it the most. The first phase will distribute 1,892 plots across 33 different housing schemes, which will cover 22 districts of Punjab. This large-scale project aims to tackle homelessness and provide the underprivileged with a chance to own their land.
A Breakdown of the First Phase: In the Rawalpindi Division, a total of 658 plots will be allocated. These plots will be distributed across five different housing schemes in four districts. Meanwhile, the Faisalabad Division will see 288 plots made available across four schemes spread over five districts. The Lahore region will be provided with the highest number of plots in this phase – 518 plots will be distributed across five housing schemes located in three districts. Other areas that will benefit from the scheme include Bhakkar Region, where 131 plots will be given out across seven schemes, and Multan Region, which will receive 270 plots spread across nine schemes in five districts.

The Bahawalpur region will also see the distribution of 27 plots, while additional plots will be made available in Hazro, Attock, Jhelum, Gujrat, and Mandi Bahauddin. This wide coverage of districts will ensure that even remote areas are included in the program.
The initiative aims to provide a permanent solution to the housing crisis, especially for the homeless, who often struggle to make ends meet. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has expressed her vision of ensuring that every citizen in Punjab has their own home, reflecting the government’s commitment to social welfare and inclusivity.
She emphasized that the poor and deserving individuals also have a right to access government resources, and this project is a step toward addressing that need. The Punjab government has already directed the concerned authorities to begin taking necessary actions to implement the program, although the exact start date has not yet been announced.
This project marks a bold move in addressing the longstanding issue of homelessness in Punjab. With the government’s focus on providing free plots, many families and individuals who have been waiting for such opportunities will be able to change their lives. It is expected that, with time, more phases of the project will be launched, ensuring that even more people benefit from this government initiative.
The distribution of these plots will not only offer families a place to live but will also provide them with the opportunity to build a better future for themselves and their children. This project represents a significant step in the government’s efforts to improve the quality of life for its citizens and address the issue of homelessness that affects many families across the province.
By providing free land, the government is giving hope and a new beginning to those who have struggled for years without the basic security of a home. This initiative highlights the government’s dedication to uplifting the lives of the underprivileged and ensuring that every citizen, regardless of their background, can have access to a better and more secure future.
