Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, has launched an exciting new initiative aimed at helping students across the province. The plan will see 100,000 e-bikes and 50,000 scholarships distributed to students next year, creating a wave of excitement and opportunity for young people. This big announcement was made during a special ceremony at Okara University, where Maryam Nawaz also presented scholarship cheques to deserving students.
The Chief Minister’s speech focused on her strong support for education and her commitment to helping students succeed. She emphasized that the Talented Students Scholarship Program is the largest of its kind in the country. “I’m here to speak my heart and to listen to the students,” she shared with the audience, expressing her dedication to supporting education and learning.
Maryam Nawaz also praised Education Minister Rana Sikander Hayat for his hard work and dedication to improving the education system. She mentioned that Hayat, like a good student, takes criticism constructively and continues to deliver great results. Her words inspired those in attendance to remain true to their goals and keep striving for success.
The highlight of the event was the announcement that, starting next year, 100,000 students in Punjab will receive e-bikes. This initiative will make it easier for students to commute to their educational institutions, helping them save time and money. Additionally, the number of scholarships will increase from 30,000 this year to 50,000 next year. These scholarships are not just a charitable gift but a recognition of the hard work, merit, and potential of students across Punjab.
The Chief Minister made it clear that these scholarships would be awarded based solely on merit. No student would be asked about their political background, and no scholarships would be given out through recommendations. Merit would be the only factor considered in the selection process.
As part of her speech, Maryam Nawaz also shared plans for the establishment of Okara Medical College by 2025, providing even more opportunities for students in the region. She also announced the arrival of the first batch of laptops under a student support program, ensuring that students have the tools they need to succeed in their studies.
The event concluded on a lively note, with Maryam Nawaz interacting with the students, taking selfies, and creating a joyful and engaging atmosphere. The ceremony was a moment of celebration, and her message to the students was clear: Punjab is committed to building a brighter future through education, innovation, and support.
