The Punjab government has launched a new healthcare project aimed at improving medical services across all 37 districts, including Rawalpindi. Under this plan, Basic Health Units (BHUs) and Rural Health Centres (RHCs) will be outsourced and transformed into Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics (MNHCs). These clinics will provide free medical services to the public, reducing the burden on major hospitals.
Better Healthcare Facilities for the Public
The government is making major changes to improve healthcare services. The plan includes renovating the existing health centers before outsourcing them to new management. This will help ensure that people receive quality treatment in a well-equipped and properly managed environment.
To make the system more efficient, the government has also restructured staffing arrangements. Regular government employees working in these health centers will be shifted to other hospitals once new staff is hired. Meanwhile, non-regular employees will be given permanent jobs. However, those working on specific health projects will only remain until their project is completed.
Rawalpindi to Get 98 New Clinics
In Rawalpindi, the first phase of this project has already begun. Seven health centers have been outsourced, with 20 more to follow soon. Eventually, 98 clinics will be operational in the district, offering free healthcare services to the public.
Dr. Asif Arbab Niazi, CEO of the Rawalpindi District Health Authority (DHA), stated that these clinics will play a crucial role in reducing pressure on big hospitals. With more medical facilities available in different areas, people will no longer have to travel long distances for basic healthcare.
A Big Step Towards a Healthier Punjab
This initiative is a big step towards improving healthcare in Punjab. By upgrading and outsourcing these health centers, the government aims to provide better medical treatment, reduce hospital overcrowding, and ensure that healthcare services reach everyone. With 98 clinics planned for Rawalpindi alone, the public will soon have access to free and high-quality medical care right in their neighborhoods.
