The Punjab Education Department has announced a new opportunity for aspiring educators in the form of a Teaching Internship for 2025. This initiative aims to improve the education system in the province by hiring School Teaching Interns (STIs) for a nine-month internship. A total of 12,500 interns will be recruited across Punjab, and this could be your chance to gain valuable experience in the education sector.
The internship is designed to provide an opportunity for those passionate about teaching but without the administrative responsibilities. Interns will not be assigned to evening schools or given any administrative tasks. Instead, their primary role will be to support and enhance the learning experience for students in various schools across the region.
To be eligible for this internship, applicants must meet a few basic criteria. First, candidates must be residents of the district they wish to apply for. Additionally, applicants should hold a master’s degree along with a professional teaching qualification. This ensures that those selected are well-equipped with both the educational knowledge and teaching skills needed for the job.
One of the attractive features of this internship is the stipend provided to the selected candidates. Interns teaching in primary schools will receive a stipend of Rs38,000 per month. Those assigned to middle schools will earn Rs40,000, and interns working in high schools or higher secondary schools will receive the highest stipend of Rs45,000. This stipend can help interns financially as they gain practical experience in a real classroom setting.
The selection process for these positions is quite transparent. Candidates must gain the consent of the relevant educational authorities, including the Deputy District Education Officers (DEOs), Assistant Education Officers (AEOs), heads of schools, and the school councils. The merit list of selected candidates will be posted at the offices of the Deputy DEOs, on an online portal, and displayed on school notice boards. This ensures that the recruitment process is fair and accessible to all eligible candidates.
It is important to note that these internships are temporary positions. Interns will not be eligible for internal transfers to other schools or permanent positions within the education department. However, those who successfully complete the internship will receive a certificate, which can be a valuable addition to their teaching credentials.
If you are interested in applying for this teaching internship, make sure to check the district-specific portal where applications are being accepted. This is a fantastic opportunity for those looking to build a career in education, gain hands-on teaching experience, and make a positive impact on the education system in Punjab.
