The Punjab government has taken a big step to improve security by launching a special department called the Crime Control Department (CCD). This new unit is designed to fight organized crime and ensure public safety. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has officially approved the creation of this department, along with key appointments to make it fully functional.
The CCD will be headed by an Additional Inspector General and will have a strong team, including three Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs), Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) at divisional headquarters, Superintendents of Police (SPs), and Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) in each district. A total of 4,258 officers and personnel will be part of this new force, making it a powerful unit to combat crime.
One of the major highlights of this department is the use of modern technology. The CCD will focus on stopping seven major types of organized crime, and to do this effectively, they will use surveillance drones that can reach crime scenes within just five minutes. This will help in quick response and better crime management. In addition, a central database will be maintained to keep records of crimes and criminals across Punjab.
