Punjab has taken a historic step by launching the Chief Minister Transplant Program, a groundbreaking initiative that offers free organ transplants to people who need them. This program, led by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is the largest of its kind in Pakistan’s history.
Under this initiative, the government will provide free transplants for liver, kidney, bone marrow, and cornea. Additionally, children with hearing impairments will receive free cochlear implants to help them hear. This is a major step toward ensuring that life-saving medical treatments are accessible to all, regardless of financial background.
The government has made it easy for underprivileged patients in Punjab to benefit from this program. Anyone who qualifies can register through the Punjab Human Organ Transplantation Authority to receive treatment without any cost. The program is not just limited to public hospitals; private healthcare facilities will also participate, allowing more people to access these critical services.

To make the process even more convenient, a toll-free helpline (0900-90800) has been launched. People can call this number for information, guidance, and assistance regarding the transplant procedures.
Speaking at the program’s launch, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif highlighted how life-changing this initiative will be. She stated that children born deaf will be able to hear with cochlear implants, and people suffering from blindness due to corneal damage will have their vision restored. Moreover, she reassured the public that all expenses for liver and kidney transplants would be fully covered by the government, ensuring that financial limitations do not stop anyone from receiving treatment.
This program is a game-changer for healthcare in Punjab. It reflects the government’s commitment to providing essential medical care to its citizens, making life-saving procedures accessible to those who need them the most. With this initiative, Punjab has set a new benchmark in public healthcare, bringing hope to thousands of patients and their families.
