The Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, is making remarkable strides to support students by improving transportation options. In a recent announcement, the Chief Minister revealed an exciting plan to distribute 100,000 electric bikes to students across the province in the upcoming year. This initiative aims to provide students with better, eco-friendly transportation while reducing the financial burden of commuting.
During a special event at Bahauddin Zakaria University in Multan, where scholarships were being distributed under the Honahaar Scholarship Program, Maryam Nawaz highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to support education. The event celebrated the achievements of deserving students and marked the distribution of scholarship cheques, a step towards ensuring that financial limitations do not stand in the way of a student’s academic success.
The distribution of electric bikes is a part of this broader vision to assist students in accessing their schools, colleges, and universities easily. Previously, 30,000 electric bikes were distributed to students free of charge, helping them save money and time on transportation. Next year, this number will grow substantially to 100,000 bikes. This move aims to reduce the traffic burden on students while promoting green energy solutions through electric bikes, which are an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional fuel-powered vehicles.
Apart from the electric bike distribution, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also mentioned plans to introduce interest-free loans for young people who have business ideas. These loans will be provided to empower youth, helping them turn their business dreams into reality. By offering financial assistance and support, the government is not only focusing on education but also creating opportunities for young people to become financially independent.
These initiatives show that the Punjab government is dedicated to improving the lives of students and young people, providing them with the tools and resources they need to succeed in their studies and careers. The electric bike scheme is just one example of how the government is investing in the future, helping students to travel comfortably and sustainably while continuing their education.
