
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently honored Pakistan’s snooker champion, Muhammad Asif, with a cash reward of 2.5 million rupees for his outstanding achievement in the sport. Asif won the prestigious South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Snooker Championship, bringing pride and recognition to Pakistan.
In a special meeting with the snooker legend, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Muhammad Asif on his remarkable victory at the SAARC Championship. He presented him with a check of 25 lakh rupees as a token of appreciation for his exceptional performance in the world of snooker.
The Prime Minister expressed his pride in Asif’s success, saying, “You have brought honor to Pakistan in the world of snooker, and the entire nation takes pride in your accomplishment.” He further emphasized how Pakistani athletes, through their talents and hard work, continue to shine on the global stage, raising Pakistan’s profile in international competitions.
The Prime Minister also acknowledged the role of the government in supporting athletes and ensuring they have the resources and opportunities to succeed. He directed relevant authorities to collaborate with Muhammad Asif to help train and develop future snooker stars in the country.
Muhammad Asif’s victory at the recent SAARC Snooker Championship is another milestone in his career. He defeated Sri Lanka’s Taha Ashrat in the final, securing a flawless victory without dropping a single frame during the match. This win marked his eighth career title, a significant achievement for the Pakistani snooker player.
The SAARC Snooker Championship win is just one of many for Asif. He previously claimed the World Snooker Championship title in 2024, and he has been a three-time World Champion.
