A heart-touching story has surfaced as a Polish woman, Anna Monika Wajsk, takes a stand in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to reclaim custody of her young daughter from her Pakistani husband, Adeel Khan. According to reports, the mother claims that her daughter, who holds Polish nationality, was taken to Pakistan under false pretenses in 2022 without her permission.
Anna alleges that her husband used deceptive means to bring their child to Pakistan. She has now sought legal assistance to reunite with her daughter. This emotional case has drawn attention to cross-border custody disputes, highlighting the complexities faced by parents from different countries.
In a recent hearing, the Islamabad High Court directed the Interior Secretary to form a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to locate both the child and her father. This team will work in collaboration with the Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the home department to determine their whereabouts.
To strengthen the search efforts, the court ordered the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to provide information about Adeel Khan’s family background. Additionally, both Adeel Khan and the child’s names have been added to the Exit Control List (ECL) and the blacklist to ensure they cannot leave the country during the ongoing investigation.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has also stepped in, confirming that Adeel Khan was last recorded arriving at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport on December 18, 2024. This indicates that he is still within Pakistan, further aiding the investigation.
The next hearing for this case is set for January 21, 2025, as the mother continues her fight to bring her daughter back home.
This case echoes a similar incident from 2022, where the Islamabad High Court granted custody of two children to their Polish mothers after a legal battle with their Pakistani father, Saleem Muhammad. The father had claimed that he brought the children to Pakistan with their mothers’ consent but cited religious differences as a source of conflict. Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani ruled in favor of the mothers, ordering the return of the children.
These custody cases highlight the emotional and legal challenges that arise when international families face conflicts. They also emphasize the importance of clear communication and legal agreements in cross-border marriages to protect the well-being of children involved.
As the case unfolds, Anna Monika Wajsk hopes for a resolution that will reunite her with her daughter, bringing closure to her painful journey.
