The Pakistani government has taken firm action against its citizens involved in unlawful activities abroad, focusing particularly on those in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This decision comes after receiving comprehensive reports from UAE authorities detailing criminal cases involving Pakistani nationals.
As per official data, the passports of 4,700 Pakistanis currently incarcerated in the UAE have been deactivated. These individuals are part of a larger group of 5,292 Pakistani citizens serving sentences for various offenses. Among these, 2,470 were convicted for drug-related crimes, marking the most significant category. Additionally, 100 individuals faced charges for fraud, deception, and sexual harassment.
The government also revoked the passports of 704 Pakistanis imprisoned for theft and 216 who were found guilty of serious crimes like murder and robbery. Furthermore, 375 individuals residing in the UAE without legal documentation have had their passports invalidated.
This decisive move highlights the Pakistani government’s commitment to addressing criminal activities and illegal residency among its citizens abroad. By working closely with UAE authorities, the government aims to uphold its international reputation and discourage illegal behavior.
This action sends a clear message: those engaging in unlawful activities abroad will face strict consequences, including the loss of travel and identification privileges. It underscores the government’s resolve to ensure accountability and compliance with legal standards among its citizens globally.
