Pakistan’s cricket team has taken a significant hit in the latest ICC ODI rankings after a tough Champions Trophy campaign. The team’s poor performance against India and New Zealand has resulted in major ranking drops, particularly for key fast bowlers and batters.
Pakistan’s Pace Attack Faces a Setback:
Pakistan’s fast bowlers, who were once among the most feared in international cricket, have seen their rankings drop significantly. Shaheen Afridi, after struggling in recent matches, has fallen five places and is now ranked 9th among ODI bowlers. His teammate Haris Rauf has slipped even further, dropping six spots to 22nd place.
Naseem Shah, another promising pacer, saw a minor improvement in his rankings but still remains at 42nd place. However, there was some good news for Pakistan in the spin department. Abrar Ahmed, after a strong performance against India, made an impressive jump of 26 places to enter the top 50, now sitting at 49th position in the latest ODI bowler rankings.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana continues to dominate the bowling charts, maintaining his No. 1 position despite not playing in the Champions Trophy.

Pakistan’s Batters Also in Decline:
The struggles were not limited to Pakistan’s bowling attack—its batters also faced a tough time. Babar Azam is still holding onto the No. 2 ranking, but his recent lack of runs has put him at risk of losing his spot. If his form does not improve, he might drop further in the coming updates.
Fakhar Zaman, who was sidelined due to injury, has dropped three places and is now ranked 17th. Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan’s captain, has also lost ground, slipping four spots to 20th place.
At the top of the batting rankings, India’s Shubman Gill continues to lead the way, with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli also securing spots in the top 10.
What’s Next for Pakistan?
Pakistan’s cricket team now faces the challenge of rebuilding and regaining its lost rankings. With key players struggling, they will need to regroup and come back stronger in future tournaments. Fans will be hoping to see improvements, especially from star players like Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi, who have the potential to bounce back and dominate once again.
The ICC ODI rankings are a reflection of a team’s consistency and performance, and Pakistan will need to make major improvements to reclaim its place among the top teams in the world.
