The Pakistan Navy is preparing to host the 9th edition of the AMAN multinational exercise, which will take place from February 7 to 11, 2025. This significant event will bring together naval forces from around the world, with navies from 60 countries participating in this year’s exercise. The aim of AMAN-25 is to enhance global maritime security and foster international cooperation.
The AMAN series of exercises, which started in 2007, has grown tremendously over the years. The first edition had just 28 countries, but by 2023, the number of participating nations reached 50. This year’s exercise, however, will be the largest yet, featuring ships, aircraft, Special Operations Forces (SOF), Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams, Marines, and many international observers.
A key highlight of this year’s exercise is the AMAN Dialogue. During this special event, top military officials, including Chiefs of Naval Forces, heads of Coast Guards, and other senior leaders, will gather to discuss important issues related to regional maritime security. These leaders will also work together to develop strategies to address growing maritime threats such as piracy and terrorism.
The AMAN exercise will be divided into two phases: the harbour phase and the sea phase. In the harbour phase, a range of activities will take place, including seminars, operational discussions, and counter-terrorism demonstrations. These discussions will focus on how nations can cooperate more effectively to ensure maritime security. The sea phase will include practical exercises, including tactical maneuvers, search and rescue operations, and air defense drills. One of the key events during the sea phase will be the International Fleet Review, where ships from various countries will showcase their strength and unity in the fight for global maritime peace.
The theme of AMAN-25, “Secure Seas; Prosperous Future,” highlights the importance of maintaining peace and security in international waters for the prosperity of all nations. The Pakistan Navy’s commitment to promoting peace and cooperation in the region is evident through the AMAN series, which has become a symbol of international collaboration.
This multinational exercise not only strengthens the defense capabilities of participating countries but also demonstrates the power of unity in addressing global challenges. As the world’s oceans continue to be vital for trade and communication, such exercises play an important role in ensuring that these crucial sea routes remain safe and secure for all nations.
AMAN-25 is expected to be a landmark event, underscoring the importance of international cooperation in ensuring maritime security. It will provide a platform for nations to work together, share knowledge, and strengthen their defense capabilities. Through this exercise, the Pakistan Navy continues to play a leading role in promoting regional and global peace.
