Cricket fans are eagerly waiting for the thrilling India-Pakistan match in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, scheduled for February 23, 2025, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has expressed confidence in Pakistan’s chances, predicting that his team could have the upper hand over their arch-rivals.
Amir highlighted Pakistan’s recent strong performances, including their wins against top teams like Australia and South Africa, as proof of their growing confidence and skill. “Pakistan has shown their strength, especially in overseas conditions, by beating Australia on their home ground and defeating South Africa. Based on these performances, I believe Pakistan will have an edge against India,” Amir shared.
While India has traditionally dominated in major tournaments like ODI World Cups, Amir noted that the team is under pressure due to some recent setbacks. A significant factor in this match could be the availability of India’s star pacer, Jasprit Bumrah. Amir emphasized that if Bumrah is unavailable, it would seriously weaken India’s bowling attack. “Bumrah is their top bowler, and his absence would be a huge loss for India,” he said.
Pakistan has a mixed record against India in the Champions Trophy, winning two out of their five meetings. However, their most memorable win came in the 2017 final, where Pakistan defeated India by a massive 180 runs. Amir played a key role in that match, taking the crucial wickets of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shikhar Dhawan.
The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy will feature eight teams competing in 15 matches across venues in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Dubai. The tournament begins on February 19, with Pakistan playing the opening match against New Zealand in Karachi. Group A consists of Pakistan, India, New Zealand, and Bangladesh, while Group B includes Afghanistan, South Africa, England, and Australia.
Excitement is building for this high-profile event, and the India-Pakistan clash is undoubtedly the most anticipated match. Fans from both nations and around the world are ready to witness another unforgettable chapter in this legendary cricket rivalry.
