General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan, recently visited Peshawar to discuss ongoing efforts to ensure peace and security in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa region. During his visit, he emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to decisively countering any threats that attempt to disrupt the country’s peace and stability.
The army chief met with political leaders from various parties in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and assured them of the unwavering resolve of Pakistan’s security forces to maintain law and order. He stressed that while adversaries might try to create fear and instability, Pakistan’s armed forces would respond firmly and effectively to protect the nation.
General Munir was welcomed in Peshawar by the Corps Commander and received a detailed briefing on the current security situation. He was informed about ongoing counterterrorism operations targeting extremist groups, including the “Khawarij,” and other elements posing threats to the region.
He commended the bravery and sacrifices of the Pakistan Army and law enforcement agencies in the fight against terrorism. Their relentless efforts have achieved significant successes, including neutralizing key leaders of terrorist groups and dismantling their networks. These actions have sent a powerful message that terrorism has no place in Pakistan.
During his address, General Munir acknowledged the remarkable progress made by security forces in thwarting several planned attacks. He praised their professionalism and readiness, stating that every operation reflects their determination to ensure the safety of the people.
The army chief made it clear that any attempt to disturb Pakistan’s peace would face a decisive response. “The enemies of peace may try to create chaos, but we will not step back. Hostile elements will face severe consequences,” he asserted.
In addition to meeting security personnel, General Munir also engaged with political leaders, who pledged their full support to the armed forces and law enforcement agencies. They emphasized the importance of political unity in overcoming extremist ideologies and stressed the need to transcend party lines in this effort.
General Munir highlighted the high morale and dedication of Pakistan’s armed forces, reiterating their commitment to safeguarding the country’s sovereignty. He called for a unified voice from political leaders and public support to strengthen the fight against terrorism.
