In a remarkable show of friendship, Pakistan and Turkiye have deepened their bilateral ties through a series of agreements during Turkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s official visit to Islamabad. The visit, which took place on February 12 and 13, 2025, has set the stage for stronger cooperation in various fields such as trade, defense, and culture.
Upon arriving in Islamabad, President Erdogan was given a warm and respectful welcome, including a grand guard of honor at the Prime Minister’s House. In addition to economic cooperation, the defense relationship between the two countries remains crucial. Turkiye is one of Pakistan’s largest arms suppliers, and their defense partnership has grown substantially. Key projects, such as the development of Milgem warships and modernizing aircraft, have brought both countries closer in terms of military collaboration. This visit solidifies their commitment to continue working together on defense technology, joint training programs, and manufacturing.
During their discussions, President Erdogan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also touched upon regional security issues. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to supporting each other on important international platforms, including advocating for Muslim causes like Palestine and Kashmir. The two countries have consistently shown solidarity on these matters, and their cooperation continues to grow as they face common geopolitical challenges.
