Former Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar has announced his decision to join the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led alliance, Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aeen Pakistan (TTAP), in an effort to tackle the ongoing challenges facing the country.
Khokhar, who previously served as a spokesperson for PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, shared this news during a press conference in Islamabad. He was joined by prominent TTAP leaders, including Omar Ayub, as well as other members of the alliance.
During his speech, Khokhar expressed his gratitude to TTAP for holding detailed discussions on key national issues. He highlighted the alliance’s commitment to addressing pressing challenges such as terrorism, the struggling economy, and threats to national integrity.
The former senator emphasized the importance of unity during these difficult times. He pointed out that the ongoing crises have severely impacted ordinary citizens, with over 15 million people pushed below the poverty line in just the past year.
Khokhar did not shy away from criticizing the current PML-N-led government, blaming it for worsening the country’s problems. He accused the government of mismanagement and failing to provide effective leadership during a critical period in Pakistan’s history.
Acknowledging the urgency of the situation, Khokhar stressed the need for a collective national agenda. He called for a united approach to restore the rule of law and the Constitution, ensuring that all stakeholders, including civil society, play a role in shaping Pakistan’s future.
He also mentioned ongoing discussions with other political parties to finalize a plan to tackle the crises. According to Khokhar, this struggle aims to ensure that decisions about Pakistan are made transparently and through the people’s mandate, rather than in secrecy.
Khokhar’s decision to align with TTAP marks a significant shift in the political landscape and reflects growing calls for national unity to address Pakistan’s pressing challenges. He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to work towards the betterment of the nation and restoring democratic stability.
This development comes at a time when Pakistan faces mounting challenges, and Khokhar’s move is being seen as a step toward rallying support for meaningful change.
