As Murree braces for the winter season, the City Traffic Police have introduced new measures to manage the expected surge of tourists during the snowfall. Known for its stunning snow-covered landscapes, Murree attracts thousands of visitors each year, and this year, the authorities are taking extra steps to ensure smooth traffic flow and a hassle-free experience for everyone.
Mughees Ahmad Hashmi, the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Murree, shared that about 200 traffic wardens will be deployed throughout the region. This significant deployment aims to manage the increased volume of vehicles and prevent traffic congestion, ensuring that tourists can easily navigate through the hill station and its surrounding areas.
These measures are in line with the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Inspector General of Police, and the Additional Inspector General of Traffic Police, all of whom have emphasized the importance of enforcing the new traffic guidelines.
To minimize traffic disruptions, several key roads in Murree will operate under a one-way system during the snowfall. Roads such as View Fourth Road, Bank Road, Hall Road, Kuldana Road, and Imtiaz Shaheed Road will be designated as one-way to streamline the flow of vehicles and reduce congestion in the busiest areas.
Additionally, certain locations have been designated as parking-free zones to ensure that traffic continues to move without blockages. These include busy spots like the vicinity of Habib Bank, General Post Office (GPO) Chowk, Cecil Hotel, Kuldana Road, and the area from Bank Road to Girls Degree College. By eliminating parking in these critical areas, the authorities hope to make the roads more accessible and reduce traffic jams.
The administration is hopeful that these measures will create a more enjoyable and safer experience for tourists visiting Murree this winter. Visitors are encouraged to follow the traffic guidelines and cooperate with the traffic wardens to ensure smooth travel.
With the new rules in place, Murree is ready to welcome tourists and offer them an unforgettable winter experience, free from the usual traffic hassles.
