As Ramadan approaches, meat prices across Pakistan have increased significantly, causing concern among consumers. The surge in prices is making it harder for families to manage their budgets, especially as demand is expected to rise further during the holy month.
In various cities, including Sialkot and Karachi, the prices of chicken, beef, and mutton have jumped sharply. In Sialkot, chicken meat now costs Rs700 per kg after an increase of Rs107 per kg. Mutton prices have gone up drastically, rising from Rs1,800 to Rs2,700 per kg, while beef prices have increased from Rs800 to Rs1,200 per kg.

Karachi is facing a similar trend, where the price of chicken meat has surpassed Rs700 per kg, despite the official rate being Rs650 per kg. The price of live chicken has also reached Rs500 per kg, worrying consumers about further price hikes in the coming weeks.
Poultry shop owners and traders say that the rising costs from farms are the main reason behind the increase. They also warn that prices could go even higher as demand rises during Ramadan. Many consumers fear that chicken prices may soon reach Rs800 per kg if no action is taken.
The constant rise in meat prices has made it difficult for many households to afford essential food items. With Ramadan being a time of increased food consumption, the financial burden on consumers is growing. Many people are calling for price control measures to stabilize the market and prevent further increases.
