Great news for consumers! The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced a reduction in the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), offering some financial relief as the new year begins. Starting January 1, 2025, the price of LPG will be reduced by Rs4.02 per kilogram, bringing it down to Rs250.28 per kg.
This change also impacts domestic cylinders, which are commonly used by households across the country. The price of a standard cylinder, weighing 11.8 kg, has been reduced by Rs47.43, bringing its new rate to Rs2953. Previously, in December 2024, LPG was sold at Rs254.3 per kg, and domestic cylinders were priced at Rs3079.
The new rates are a positive step for many households and small businesses that rely heavily on LPG for cooking and other energy needs. Lower prices mean a lighter burden on monthly budgets, especially during times of rising inflation.
However, as LPG prices fall, the federal government is also expected to announce changes in petroleum product prices. According to reports, diesel prices may increase by more than Rs4 per liter, while kerosene oil prices could rise by Rs1 per liter. Petrol prices, on the other hand, are likely to remain unchanged, but official confirmation will follow once a notification is issued.
These adjustments are expected to be announced by the Finance Minister, in consultation with the Prime Minister, as part of routine price reviews. Any increase in petroleum prices could have a ripple effect on transportation and commodity costs, making the reduction in LPG rates even more significant for those seeking affordable energy solutions.
As we enter the new year, these changes highlight the ongoing efforts to balance consumer relief and fiscal responsibilities. Keep an eye on updates regarding fuel and energy prices to stay informed and plan your expenses effectively.
