The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has introduced a special relief package to support families in need during Ramadan. Under this initiative, the government will provide Rs. 10,000 in financial aid to 5,000 families in each provincial constituency. This step aims to help low-income households cope with rising expenses during the holy month.
To ensure fair pricing and prevent hoarding, a special monitoring cell will be set up at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. This team will keep an eye on market prices and take action against those trying to exploit consumers.
Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur announced these measures while leading the 22nd Cabinet meeting on Friday. He urged ministers to stay connected with the public and address their concerns effectively. The CM also directed Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs) to help compile a list of eligible families for financial assistance.
In addition to the Ramadan relief program, the cabinet also approved key projects to improve healthcare facilities in the province. One such decision involves upgrading the IRNUM PET-CT/Cyclotron Project, which will enhance cancer diagnosis and treatment services.
Moreover, the government has extended the ‘D-Talk and Insulin for Life’ program, which provides free insulin and medication to diabetic patients. With funding from a $5 million foreign grant, this initiative is currently benefiting 85,789 diabetes patients across 22 districts through 26 insulin centers.
Another important development from the meeting is the approval of a proposal to convert the provincial government’s MI-17 helicopter into an air ambulance. Rs. 150 million has been allocated for necessary modifications, and the Rescue 1122 service will be responsible for managing its operations. This move aims to provide faster emergency medical services, especially in remote areas.
With these initiatives, the KP government is working to provide much-needed financial and healthcare support to the people, ensuring a more secure and comfortable Ramadan for thousands of families.
