The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has proudly announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025. This exciting tournament will be hosted in Malaysia from January 18 to February 2, 2025, featuring 16 teams from across the globe. Wicketkeeper-batter Komal Khan has been entrusted with the captaincy, with Zoofishan Ayyaz serving as her vice-captain.
The squad selection highlights the PCB’s commitment to fostering young talent in women’s cricket. The players, who recently competed in the six-team ACC U19 Women’s Asia Cup in Malaysia, are now gearing up for this prestigious global event. Before their departure, the team will participate in an intensive training camp at the Hanif Mohammad High Performance Centre in Karachi from December 31, 2024, to January 9, 2025. This preparation is aimed at honing their skills and building a strong strategy for the World Cup.
The Pakistan team is placed in Group B alongside England, Ireland, and the USA. Their journey begins with a match against the USA on January 18 at the JCA Oval in Johor, Malaysia. This will be followed by a crucial game against England on January 20 and their final group-stage match against Ireland on January 22. The top three teams from each group will advance to the Super Six stage, where teams will carry forward their points, wins, and Net Run Rate (NRR) earned during the group matches.
The tournament format ensures thrilling competition, with the Super Six stage dividing the 12 qualifying teams into two groups. Pakistan will aim to secure a top-two finish in their group to qualify for the semi-finals scheduled for January 31. The grand finale will take place at Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur on February 2, promising a spectacular end to the tournament.
This is a golden opportunity for Pakistan’s young cricketers to showcase their skills on an international platform.
