In an effort to support deserving girls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the provincial government has made a significant announcement. The government will now offer a financial incentive of two lakh rupees to girls who are getting married. This step aims to ease the burden of wedding expenses and provide help to those who need it most.
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur. The meeting focused on the Department of Social Welfare’s efforts to support disadvantaged families. As part of this initiative, the government will arrange community weddings for over 4,000 girls from less privileged backgrounds. The government will also bear the cost of these collective wedding events, ensuring that the families do not face financial strain during the celebrations.
In addition to the financial assistance of two lakh rupees per bride, the provincial government plans to hold mass wedding events at both the divisional and district levels. These events are aimed at making weddings more affordable for deserving families across the province.
Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur emphasized that the funds provided through the dowry scheme will only be distributed to those who truly need them. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that assistance reaches the rightful recipients without any hindrance. The government’s commitment to social welfare includes an immediate focus on activating shelters and making them part of the permanent provincial budget. Shelters that are currently inactive will be swiftly brought into operation to assist those in need.
Furthermore, the government has also decided to provide wheelchairs to students with disabilities. Initially, these wheelchairs will be distributed among students attending higher education institutions, ensuring they have the mobility and support they need for their academic pursuits.
A new initiative for senior citizens was also discussed during the meeting. The government has approved the establishment of an old age home that will cater to elderly citizens, offering them not only accommodation but also recreational facilities to ensure their well-being. Additionally, the Chief Minister has approved the introduction of an “Orphan Card” for orphaned girls, ensuring they receive the care and support they deserve.
Another important decision involves the introduction of ration cards for elderly widows. These cards will provide them with a monthly allowance of five thousand rupees, ensuring they have the resources to meet their basic needs. This initiative aims to improve the living conditions of older widows, who often face financial struggles.
The Chief Minister has directed that a working plan for these welfare activities be prepared within a week. His goal is to make sure these initiatives are implemented as quickly as possible to improve the lives of the province’s most vulnerable populations.
Through these measures, the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is demonstrating its commitment to building an inclusive and supportive society. By focusing on the needs of the less fortunate, the government hopes to create a more equitable environment for all citizens. This initiative reflects the broader vision of an Islamic welfare state, where the care and protection of the underprivileged are prioritized. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is determined to make use of all available resources to support social welfare and provide aid to those who need it most.
