To manage traffic congestion during the busy Eid shopping season, the Karachi Traffic Police have introduced a new traffic plan. This plan restricts the movement of certain vehicles in major shopping areas to ensure smooth traffic flow. The restrictions will begin from the 15th of Ramazan and will remain in place until Eid.
Restrictions for Smooth Traffic Flow
Rickshaws, taxis, online ride-hailing services, and commercial vehicles will not be allowed in key shopping districts. This step aims to reduce traffic jams and make it easier for shoppers and commuters to move around. Additional traffic personnel will also be deployed to assist the public and maintain order on the roads.
Authorities have advised citizens to follow the new traffic guidelines to avoid unnecessary delays and ensure a hassle-free shopping experience.
Alternate Routes for Major Areas
To accommodate these changes, the traffic police have provided alternative routes for different areas in Karachi:
- Clifton & Teen Talwar: Traffic coming from Clifton Bridge towards Teen Talwar will be diverted due to large crowds. Drivers can take Race Course Road and Chaudhry Khaliq-uz-Zaman Road as alternate routes. Vehicles coming from the underpass can reach Clifton Bridge via Bath Island, but restricted vehicles will not be allowed in these areas.
- Tariq Road: Rickshaws, taxis, and commercial vehicles will not be permitted near the Ittehad Signal. Drivers should opt for alternate routes through Allah Wali Chowrangi, Noorani Kabab House, and Medicare on Shaheed-e-Millat Road.
- Millennium Mall & Hyderi Market: Those traveling from Millennium Mall to Drigh Road should use the Millennium Flyover. If congestion increases near Hyderi Market, traffic may be redirected through alternative routes to ensure smooth movement.
- Saddar: The entry of rickshaws, taxis, and online ride services will be restricted from Fawara Chowk to GPO and from Singer Chowk to Zaib-un-Nisa Street. This measure aims to minimize traffic congestion in the area, especially during peak shopping hours.
Citizens Urged to Follow Guidelines
The Karachi Traffic Police have urged the public to cooperate with authorities by following the new traffic rules. The goal is to create a smooth and hassle-free experience for everyone, especially during the busy Eid shopping days.
By planning their trips accordingly and using the recommended alternate routes, citizens can avoid traffic delays and make their shopping experience more convenient. The police have also assured that traffic personnel will be present in key areas to assist drivers and ensure an organized flow of vehicles.
These measures have been put in place to ease the movement of shoppers and ensure a safer and smoother traffic experience in Karachi during this festive season.
