The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has introduced an exciting initiative to empower young residents in popular tourist areas by offering interest-free loans. This new program, directed by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, is designed to boost tourism and create sustainable livelihoods for the youth.
Under this scheme, young people living in well-known tourist destinations such as Kalam Swat, Kumrat Upper Dir, Laram Top Lower Dir, Upper Chitral, Lower Chitral, Galyat Abbottabad, Kaghan, and Manshera can access loans to build or renovate rooms for visitors at their homes. The program aims to help residents enhance their homes to provide comfortable accommodations for tourists, encouraging tourism growth in the region.
Zahid Chin Zai, the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Tourism and Culture, highlighted the importance of including youth in the province’s tourism promotion efforts. He explained that loans of up to Rs 3 million would be provided, with a focus on helping young entrepreneurs build high-quality spaces for visitors. Women entrepreneurs will also be prioritized in this initiative, ensuring inclusivity and equal opportunities.
The program, launched in collaboration with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority and the Bank of Khyber, has set January 28, 2025, as the deadline for loan applications. The government has urged interested individuals to apply promptly to take advantage of this golden opportunity.
This initiative not only empowers young people but also strengthens the local tourism industry by ensuring better facilities for travelers. By improving accommodations, the scheme is expected to attract more tourists, boosting the region’s economy and cultural exchange.
In other news, the northern areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Mansehra, Kaghan Valley, and surrounding regions, have been experiencing heavy snowfall, transforming the landscape into a breathtaking winter wonderland. Popular tourist spots such as Naran, Battakundi, and Shogran have reported significant snowfall, with Naran receiving over a foot of snow and Shogran more than five inches. This picturesque weather has further increased the charm of these destinations, attracting visitors eager to enjoy the snow-covered scenery.
Despite the stunning views, the intense cold caused by continuous snowfall has impacted local life. However, the natural beauty of these areas continues to captivate tourists, showcasing the potential for tourism growth in the region.
