The International Cricket Council (ICC) has sent a special team to Karachi to check the readiness of the National Stadium for the highly anticipated Champions Trophy 2025. This inspection is a crucial part of ensuring that everything is in place for the big tournament.
The National Stadium in Karachi will be the host of three exciting matches during the Champions Trophy. The opening ceremony is scheduled for February 19, 2025, which will kick off the tournament. On the same day, the first match will feature Pakistan playing against New Zealand, which is expected to be a thrilling game. The fans are eagerly awaiting the start of the tournament, and the National Stadium will be buzzing with energy and excitement.
As part of their visit, the ICC delegation is reviewing the ongoing construction work at the stadium. They are particularly focused on a five-storey building that is still under construction. The team will be inspecting all areas of the building to ensure it is ready in time for the tournament. This inspection is part of a series of checks that have been carried out in preparation for the Champions Trophy.
Before the Champions Trophy officially begins, the stadium will also host two matches in the Tri-Nation One Day International Series. Pakistan will face South Africa on February 12, followed by the final match on February 14. These games will serve as a warm-up for the bigger event and give the teams a chance to prepare for the Champions Trophy.
The ICC team’s visit is not the first one. Earlier, the ICC’s Security Head, David Massker, had visited the stadium to assess security arrangements. In this second visit, key figures from the ICC, including Senior Manager of Event Operations, Sarah Edgar, and Manager Aun Zaidi, are checking all the arrangements. The team is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the event goes smoothly.
