Heavy Rain and Snowfall Expected in Pakistan!

A strong westerly wave is approaching Pakistan, bringing heavy rain and snowfall in various regions. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), this weather system will enter the western parts of the country on the evening or night of February 24 and will extend to upper areas by February 25. The system is expected to last until March 2 in northern areas.

Expected Weather Conditions

Northern Areas (Gilgit-Baltistan & Kashmir)

Heavy rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snowfall are expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, including Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Guanche, and Shigar. In Kashmir, areas such as Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur will experience similar conditions from February 25 to March 2, with occasional gaps.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Widespread rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall are forecasted in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Bunner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Waziristan, Kohat, Karak, Bannu, and D.I. Khan. This weather system will impact the region from the night of February 24 to March 1.

Punjab & Islamabad

Moderate to heavy snowfall is expected in Murree, Galliyat, and nearby areas from February 25 to March 1. Rain, wind, and thunderstorms will also affect Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum during this period. Other regions, including Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, and T.T. Singh, will experience rain from February 25 (evening) to February 28. Similarly, Jhang, Bhakkar, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Taunsa Sharif, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Okara, Bahawalnagar, and Bahawalpur will see rain from February 25 to 27.

Balochistan

The weather department predicts rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall over hilly areas in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Mastung, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Chagai, Noushki, Kalat, Khuzdar, Barkhan, Harnai, Zhob, and Musakhel from the evening or night of February 24 to February 26.
