The federal government is working on a Ramzan relief package worth over Rs. 20 billion to provide financial support to millions of families during the holy month. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to finalize the package and present it in the next cabinet meeting for approval. Once approved, the package will be implemented immediately to help deserving people.
According to sources, the relief package aims to provide Rs. 5,000 per family to around 4 million households. The government will use data from the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) to ensure that only the most deserving families receive financial assistance. Additionally, there is a proposal to offer a 10-15 percent discount on essential food items at special Ramzan bazaars to make daily necessities more affordable.

To fund the package, the Ministry of Industries and Production will contribute Rs. 10 billion, while the Federal Ministry of Finance will provide over Rs. 8 billion. Another Rs. 2.5 billion will be taken from BISP funds. The government has already instructed all relevant ministries to complete the necessary preparations for smooth execution.
A significant change this year is that the Utility Stores Corporation will not be involved in distributing the relief package. Unlike previous years, when subsidies on essential food items were given through Utility Stores, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided to use an alternative distribution method to ensure faster and more effective delivery of financial aid.
This initiative aims to ease the financial burden on struggling families and ensure they can observe Ramzan with dignity. The government is committed to ensuring that the relief reaches those who need it the most, making this package a crucial step toward supporting low-income households.
