Islamabad woke up to freezing weather today, with the temperature dropping to 0°C, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department. This cold wave has brought a significant chill across the country, with many cities experiencing freezing or near-freezing conditions.
Across Pakistan, temperatures have dipped sharply. In Lahore, it was 5°C, while Karachi recorded 10°C. Peshawar faced a frosty 2°C, and Quetta went even lower to -2°C. The mountainous areas have seen even harsher conditions. Skardu recorded a freezing -10°C, and Gilgit was not far behind at -6°C. Murree dropped to -1°C, adding to the wintery vibe.
Other major cities also felt the cold. Faisalabad reported 4°C, while Multan recorded 6°C. The northern areas, known for their frigid winters, saw even more extreme temperatures. Leh was the coldest at -13°C, followed by Astore at -12°C and Gupis at -11°C.
In tourist-favorite spots like Kalam and Hunza, the mercury dropped to -8°C and -7°C, respectively. Jammu and Kashmir regions also faced severe cold, with Srinagar at -4°C, Pulwama at -5°C, and Anantnag at -6°C.
This cold wave highlights the need for people to stay warm and take precautions, especially in areas experiencing sub-zero temperatures. With winter at its peak, residents are advised to plan accordingly and enjoy the beauty of the season while staying safe.
