The Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has taken a major step to support education in the province by officially launching the Honhaar Scholarship and CM Laptop Scheme. This important announcement was made during a ceremony held at Government College University Faisalabad.
The Honhaar Scholarship program is designed to provide financial assistance to deserving students from both public and private universities and colleges. At the event, cheques totaling Rs. 201.19 million were distributed to 4,690 students from the Faisalabad division. The initiative aims to ensure that talented students facing financial difficulties can continue their education without worries.
Breaking down the figures, 3,211 students from public universities will benefit from scholarships worth Rs. 176.27 million, while 101 students from private universities will receive Rs. 2.8 million. Additionally, Rs. 22 million will be allocated to 1,378 students studying in public colleges.
Prominent educational institutions, including Government College University Faisalabad, University of Agriculture, Government College Women University, University of Jhang, and Faisalabad Medical University, are among the key beneficiaries of this initiative.
Alongside the scholarships, Maryam Nawaz also introduced the latest model of laptops under the CM Laptop Scheme. The scheme plans to distribute 40,000 laptops to students across Punjab. A special focus has been placed on rewarding high achievers, with laptops being provided to students who score above 65% in their exams. This effort is aimed at helping students improve their academic skills and access modern technology to enhance learning.
The Honhaar Scholarship and CM Laptop Scheme are significant initiatives by the Punjab government to invest in the future of education. By supporting students financially and providing them with laptops, the government is empowering the youth and encouraging them to achieve excellence in their studies.
