The Punjab government has officially reversed the recent fare hike for the double-decker sightseeing buses in Lahore. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz took immediate action after the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) announced an increase in ticket prices.
Earlier, the TDCP had raised the fare for the popular sightseeing bus service from Rs. 200 to Rs. 500. Additionally, the charges for corporate events, educational institutions, and commercial activities were set to rise from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 20,000. However, CM Maryam Nawaz expressed strong disapproval of the price hike and directed the concerned officials to restore the previous fares.
Her decision aims to keep tourism affordable for the general public. She emphasized that the double-decker bus service was introduced to promote recreation and tourism in Lahore, and any unnecessary increase in fares would create a financial burden on the people.
Following her orders, the fare revision has been revoked, and passengers can now enjoy the sightseeing experience at the original rates. CM Maryam reaffirmed her commitment to improving tourism facilities in Punjab while ensuring that the cost remains minimal for everyone.
This move has been widely appreciated by the citizens, as it allows families, students, and tourists to explore Lahore’s historical and cultural landmarks without financial strain. The decision reflects the government’s dedication to promoting accessible tourism and enhancing public convenience.
