Hundreds of car wash stations have been asked to follow new environmental rules to save water. A total of 465 car wash businesses have received official notices from the Environmental Protection and Climate Change Department. The Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC), Rawalpindi Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), and District Council administration have also issued similar directives.
In addition to car wash owners, people who own private tube wells and bore wells have been informed about the new rules. The deadline for compliance has been set for February 28.
However, many car wash business owners are unhappy with these sudden changes. They say that installing water recycling systems is expensive and difficult to complete within the given timeframe. Many owners have requested the government to provide interest-free loans to help them meet the new requirements.
Car wash stations use a large amount of water daily, and authorities believe that recycling systems can help reduce waste. However, business owners argue that these systems require significant investment, which is not easy to arrange in a short period.
The owners are hoping that the government will understand their concerns and offer financial assistance. If support is provided, they will be able to install water-saving technology without facing heavy financial burdens.
The implementation of these new rules is an important step toward water conservation, but a balance needs to be found to ensure that small businesses do not suffer. With cooperation between the government and business owners, a solution can be reached that benefits both the environment and the economy.
