Great news for the people of Pakistan! Petrol and diesel prices are expected to go down significantly in the second half of March 2025. Reports suggest that petrol could become cheaper by Rs15 per litre, while diesel prices might drop by Rs10-11 per litre. This will provide much-needed relief to the public, as fuel prices have been high for a long time.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) is working on a proposal to adjust fuel prices, which will be sent to the Prime Minister for approval. Once the proposal gets the green light, the Finance Ministry will officially announce the new rates.
Expected New Petrol and Diesel Prices in Pakistan
Currently, petrol is priced at Rs255.63 per litre, and diesel costs Rs258.64 per litre. However, after the expected reduction, the new rates could be:
- Petrol: Rs240 per litre
- Diesel: Rs248 per litre
This decrease in fuel prices is happening due to a drop in global oil prices. Brent crude oil has fallen to $69.22 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude has dropped to $65.90 per barrel. The decline in international prices is mainly due to economic concerns in the US and the impact of global tariffs, which have affected oil demand.
This fuel price cut will bring financial relief to millions of people, especially those who rely on transport for their daily work. It could also help lower the prices of goods and services, as transportation costs directly impact the economy.
