Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a major initiative called the National Youth Employment Plan, aimed at providing young people in Pakistan with the skills and training they need to succeed in the job market. This program will focus on market-driven training to ensure that youth can find employment in industries that require skilled workers.
During a high-level meeting, PM Shehbaz emphasized the importance of aligning training programs with industry demands. He stressed that young people are the country’s greatest asset, and providing them with proper skills will boost both employment rates and economic growth. To keep a close watch on progress, the Prime Minister will personally review the implementation of this plan every month.
Millions of Youth to Benefit from the Program
Under this initiative, between 2.4 million and 6 million young people will receive training every year over the next four years. This means that by the end of the program, millions of individuals will have gained valuable skills that will help them secure jobs in different fields.
A Digital Youth Hub will also be launched this month, providing an online platform where young people can find job opportunities, access training resources, and connect with potential employers.

Collaboration with Industries for Better Opportunities
To ensure that the training programs lead to real job opportunities, the government will work closely with local industries. By understanding what businesses need, the training will be designed to match those requirements, increasing the chances of employment for trained youth.
Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, described this plan as a “revolutionary step” that will support young people at every stage—from training to employment. He highlighted that the program would provide not only vocational training but also internships, business support, and specialized training in digital and technological fields.
Preparing Youth for Global Job Markets
The government also aims to promote the export of skilled workers by providing international-standard training. This will help Pakistani youth secure jobs in other countries, increasing foreign remittances and strengthening the economy. PM Shehbaz has instructed officials to build strong connections with local and international industries to identify job demands and ensure that trained individuals find employment.
This initiative marks a significant step toward economic development and youth empowerment in Pakistan. By equipping young people with the right skills, the government is opening doors to new opportunities, enabling them to thrive in both local and global job markets.
