Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has expressed gratitude to US President Donald Trump for appreciating the country’s role in the fight against terrorism. The acknowledgment came after Pakistan’s security forces successfully captured a top-tier commander of the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP), Shareefullah, who was also an Afghan national.

PM Shehbaz took to social media to highlight the successful operation carried out near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. He stated that the apprehended terrorist was responsible for major attacks, including the deadly Kabul airport blast in 2021 that claimed the lives of 13 US service members during the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan.
President Trump, in his first speech to Congress since returning for a second term, announced the capture of the terrorist with the help of Pakistan. He acknowledged Pakistan’s crucial role in making the arrest possible and thanked its government for assisting in the mission.
