Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken a strong stance on reducing the prices of essential items like sugar to make them more affordable for the people. During a key meeting in Lahore on Sunday, he stressed the importance of keeping prices stable and warned against any negligence in this matter.
He directed authorities to take strict measures to control sugar prices and prevent hoarding, especially with Ramazan approaching. The prime minister instructed officials to come up with a clear plan to ensure that people get basic necessities at reasonable rates. He made it clear that any failure in implementing price control measures would not be tolerated.
Government officials assured the prime minister that the country has enough sugar stocks to meet demand. They also informed him that provincial authorities have set up fair-price shops where sugar is being sold at lower rates to help people. At the same time, strict actions are being taken against hoarders, and monitoring at the district level has been intensified to prevent any illegal activities like smuggling.
Later, PM Shehbaz also held a meeting with Federal Power Minister Sardar Awais Leghari to discuss the electricity supply situation in the country. He repeated his earlier order to reduce electricity prices for all consumers and ensure an uninterrupted power supply during Sehri and Iftar. The government is taking steps to make sure that people do not face electricity shortages during the holy month of Ramazan.
With these efforts, the government aims to provide relief to the public and keep essential items within reach of every citizen.
