The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to meet tomorrow evening in Peshawar to determine whether the moon for Ramadan has been sighted. This crucial meeting will be led by the Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, and will take place at the Auqaf Department building.
At the same time, zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will also hold their meetings in different cities. In Islamabad, the local moon sighting committee will gather at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony. Despite reports from different regions, the final announcement will be made by the central committee.
Scientific Prediction on Ramadan Moon Sighting
According to the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), the chances of sighting the Ramadan moon on Friday are low. Experts explain that while the new moon will be born on February 28 at 5:45 AM PST, it will be just 12 hours old by sunset. At that time, the moon will be at an altitude of only five degrees, making visibility very difficult.

For the moon to be clearly visible to the human eye, it typically needs to be at least 19 hours old. Because of this, SUPARCO has predicted that the moon is more likely to be seen on March 1, which would mean that Ramadan will begin on March 2.
