
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed his willingness to work closely with US President Donald Trump to strengthen ties between Pakistan and the United States. He conveyed this message during a meeting with US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker.
During the discussion, Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that his government is committed to boosting cooperation in several key sectors, including trade, information technology, agriculture, health, education, and energy. He highlighted the importance of working together to tackle security challenges, particularly those posed by militant groups. In response, the US envoy assured him that Washington is ready to collaborate on shared goals and enhance mutual cooperation.

Interestingly, despite Trump’s return to the White House last month, there have been no high-level contacts between the two governments. This has raised concerns within the current administration regarding the pace of diplomatic engagement.
On the same day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a federal cabinet meeting, where he was briefed on the progress of the government’s e-office initiative. Officials reported that 98% of federal divisions had implemented the digital system. The premier instructed them to ensure full implementation in all ministries by March.
Additionally, Shehbaz Sharif informed the cabinet about a significant financial relief from Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom has extended its $100 million per month deferred payment facility for petroleum products for another year, providing economic support to Pakistan during a challenging period.
