
Pakistan’s cricket history is filled with legendary players, and one of the most iconic names is Hanif Mohammad. Known as the “Little Master,” he played a vital role in shaping Pakistan cricket. To honor his immense contribution, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will posthumously induct him into the PCB Hall of Fame on February 12. His son, Shoaib Mohammad, will receive the honorary plaque on his behalf in a special ceremony.
This induction was initially announced in 2021, but due to management changes and scheduling conflicts, the official event was delayed. Now, the moment has finally arrived, and it will take place during Pakistan’s tri-series match against South Africa in Karachi. The event is even more special as it marks the first international match in Karachi since May 2023.
A Cricketing Legend:
Hanif Mohammad was born in 1934 in India and later became one of Pakistan’s greatest cricketers. He set a record for playing the longest innings in international cricket, batting for an unbelievable 970 minutes and scoring 337 runs against the West Indies. His patience, technique, and ability to stay on the crease made him a nightmare for bowlers.

Hanif belonged to a legendary cricketing family, with his brothers—Raees Mohammad, Mushtaq Mohammad, Sadiq Mohammad, and Wazir Mohammad—also making their mark in cricket. His son, Shoaib Mohammad, continued his cricketing legacy. Hanif Mohammad was instrumental in popularizing cricket in Pakistan, inspiring generations of players and fans.

With his induction into the PCB Hall of Fame, Hanif Mohammad joins an elite group of Pakistani cricketing greats, including Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and Zaheer Abbas. This honor ensures that his name remains forever engraved in Pakistan’s cricketing history.
