Aliya Hamza, a dedicated member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former lawmaker, has taken on the significant role of PTI Punjab Chief Organizer. This announcement comes as PTI gears up for its upcoming intra-party elections.
The confirmation of her appointment was made through an official notification issued by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan. The decision to entrust Aliya with this key responsibility was made by PTI’s founder, Imran Khan, who, despite being incarcerated, continues to steer major decisions for the party. In a recent discussion, Imran Khan emphasized that individuals actively engaged with grassroots party workers will be prioritized for party tickets.
Aliya Hamza has been a prominent figure in PTI’s political journey. She served as a Member of the National Assembly from 2018 to January 2023 after securing a reserved seat for women representing Punjab. During her tenure, she was appointed as the Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Textile by then-Prime Minister Imran Khan, showcasing her capabilities in governance and public service.
In the 2024 general elections, Aliya contested from NA-118 Lahore-II. Although she faced defeat against PML-N leader Hamza Shahbaz, her resilience and dedication to the party remained unwavering. In May 2023, Aliya faced legal challenges, including her arrest during political protests, which further highlighted her active role in PTI’s movement during challenging times.
Her new position as Punjab Chief Organizer is a pivotal role, especially as PTI prepares for its internal elections. Aliya is expected to strengthen the party’s network in Punjab by connecting with workers at all levels and bringing new energy to its organizational structure. Her appointment is being seen as a strategic move by PTI leadership to ensure strong groundwork ahead of future political contests.
Aliya’s journey in politics and her commitment to the party have earned her this significant opportunity to lead PTI in Punjab. With her proven track record and ability to engage with party workers effectively, her leadership is expected to bring positive changes for PTI in the region.
As PTI continues to evolve under new leadership dynamics, Aliya Hamza’s appointment reflects the party’s strategy of prioritizing dedicated and active members who have consistently shown their commitment to its vision. This reshuffle marks another important step in PTI’s efforts to prepare for its future political challenges.
