In Karachi, the safety of children has become a major concern due to the recent increase in kidnappings. To address this, the Karachi police have issued a new set of guidelines for schools and seminaries (Madrassas) to help protect children. These guidelines are aimed at ensuring that children are safe while traveling to and from school or attending religious classes.
One of the key points emphasized in the advisory is that children should never be allowed to leave with anyone other than their parents or guardians. This rule ensures that children are not taken by strangers, which has been a growing concern in recent weeks. The advisory also advises parents to avoid sending their children to school or seminaries alone. It’s strongly recommended that children be supervised while traveling to school, whether they are walking, using public transportation, or being dropped off by their parents.
This safety advisory comes after a disturbing incident in Korangi’s Bhatai Colony, where an attempted kidnapping was stopped in its tracks. The victim, a young girl, and a woman who was with her managed to scare off the kidnappers by shouting for help. CCTV footage captured the dramatic scene, showing two men on a motorcycle approaching the girl and the woman. One of the men got off the bike and tried to grab the girl, but she fought back by pulling away and shouting. The woman also called for help, which frightened the kidnappers and forced them to flee.
The kidnappers reportedly threatened the girl, telling her they would cut off her finger if she didn’t cooperate. Fortunately, the quick thinking and bravery of the girl and the woman prevented a worse outcome. The police are now investigating the incident and are working hard to catch the criminals involved.
This event has sparked public concern, especially as similar cases have not been resolved. The police have been unable to find the person responsible for the kidnapping and death of a young boy named Sarim, who went missing from New Karachi. Additionally, the police are still searching for two children, Aaliyan and Ali, who were kidnapped from the Garden West area a week ago. Despite CCTV footage showing the children being taken by a man and woman on a motorcycle, the authorities have not yet located the suspects.
The Karachi police are under pressure to solve these cases and bring justice to the affected families. As the search continues, the recent advisory issued to schools, seminaries, and parents becomes even more important. It’s crucial that everyone remains vigilant and follows the safety guidelines to ensure the protection of children. Parents are urged to keep a close eye on their children, especially when they are traveling alone, and to report any suspicious activity immediately to the police.
