The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has rolled out a series of impactful decisions aimed at enhancing the tourism sector in the province. These steps include offering permanent employment to tourism police officers, increasing their salaries, and launching significant development projects to attract more visitors to the region.
A recent meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority Board, led by Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, highlighted these initiatives. This meeting brought together provincial cabinet members, the Additional Chief Secretary for Planning and Development, and other key officials to discuss strategies for strengthening tourism.
One of the major outcomes of the meeting was the decision to make tourism police officers permanent employees. Additionally, their monthly salary was raised from Rs. 36,000 to Rs. 45,000, reflecting the government’s commitment to supporting its tourism workforce. To further empower the tourism police, the board approved the provision of new heavy bikes and advanced communication equipment.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of exploring new tourist destinations to keep up with the growing demand. He directed officials to identify fresh locations that could be included in the upcoming fiscal year’s budget. Last season, KP welcomed 15 million tourists, including both local and international visitors, which underscores the region’s immense tourism potential.
Another significant update involved the Thandiani Integrated Tourism Zone plan, with the Chief Minister instructing authorities to move forward with necessary updates. To ensure easier access to tourist sites, the construction of new access roads was also ordered.
These initiatives aim to not only boost the province’s economy but also provide an improved experience for tourists. With better facilities, new attractions, and enhanced safety measures, KP is positioning itself as a top destination for both local and international travelers.
The government’s proactive approach to tourism development is expected to create more job opportunities, strengthen infrastructure, and make the region an even more attractive place to visit.
