The National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore has kickstarted an exciting six-day Level 2 Coaching Course, bringing together 30 participants, including nine prominent Pakistan international cricketers, both men and women. This specialized course, which began today and will end on 19 January, is designed to enhance the coaching skills of participants with a focus on modern cricketing strategies and techniques.
Among the notable participants are six Test cricketers: Azhar Ali, known for his remarkable 97 Test appearances and 53 ODIs; Bilawal Bhatti, with two Tests and 10 ODIs to his name; Naved Latif, who played one Test and 11 ODIs; Shadab Khan, celebrated for his six Tests, 70 ODIs, and 104 T20Is; Wahab Riaz, a fast-bowling sensation with 27 Tests and 91 ODIs; and Yasir Shah, a spinner with 48 Tests under his belt. Additionally, three international players, Asad Ali, Mohammad Kamran Hussain, and the former captain of the Pakistan women’s team, Bismah Maroof, have joined the course.
The course is meticulously crafted to provide advanced coaching insights, including power-hitting techniques, modern-day game tactics, and technical skills. A key feature of the training is the emphasis on communication, mental and physical resilience, and game planning strategies. Participants will gain hands-on experience in how to develop and execute game plans effectively, preparing them to train future players at the highest level.
The course is being conducted by a stellar panel of experts, including former Test cricketer Saqlain Mushtaq and former international player Dr. Imran Abbas. They are supported by the skilled NCA coaching staff: Abdul Majeed, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mauhtashim Rashid, Rahat Abbas Asadi, and Saboor Ahmed.
Participants will complete assignments over three months following the conclusion of the course. Those who successfully meet the requirements will earn Level 2 Coaching Certificates, a prestigious qualification in cricket coaching.
The roster of participants includes a mix of seasoned cricketers and aspiring coaches: Abdul Nasir, Afaq Rahim, Akhlaq Ahmed, Ali Manzoor, Asad Ali, Azhar Ali, Badshah Hussain, Bilawal Bhatti, Bismah Maroof, Fahad-Ul-Haq, Gulraiz Sadaf, Hammad Ul Hassan, Imran, Irfan Anwar, Kashif Parwez, Khalid Usman, Mohammad Asif Hussain, Mohammad Kamran Hussain, Naveed Ahmad, Naveed Latif, Pervaiz Iqbal, Rameez Ahmed, Sajjad Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Syed Ali Raza Naqvi, Syed Hashmat Ali Shah, Taimor Khan, Umaid Asif, Wahab Riaz, and Yasir Shah.
This initiative reflects the Pakistan Cricket Board’s commitment to strengthening cricket’s foundation in the country by equipping coaches with the skills needed to shape the next generation of players.
